Barnsley have completed a deal for Leeds United midfielder Alex Mowatt.

The 21-year-old has signed a two and a half year deal with The Reds after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the two teams for the Doncaster-born player.

Mowatt, who was an unused substitute at Oakwell last weekend as Barnsley beat Leeds 3-2, had once been considered a top prospect for Leeds and had passed 100 appearances for the club.

Mowatt has only been used sparingly by Garry Monk this season and was in the final months of his contract.

Mowatt was not signed in time to feature against Rotherham United tomorrow but will be available for Tuesday's game against Wolves.
