PUPILS in their final year at Kirk Balk Academy are being allowed out at lunchtime in future in a move designed to help prepare them for college or sixth form life.
The school has had a blanket ban on children leaving the premises at lunchtimes but now those in Year 11 have been given the right to leave the site.
However, they will have to earn the privilege with 100 per cent attendance the week before they want to right to leave and parents have also been told they must be back on site no later than 1.50pm.
They will not be allowed out until 1.25pm, meaning they will have a maximum of 25 minutes outside the school premises.
Anyone breaking that rule will have their pass revoked.
The system will be monitored by teachers taking period six - after lunch.
