THERE’S not many people who have made 100 blood donations.
But on Wednesday, Stephen Rea will become one of them.
The 63-year-old has been donating blood since 1978 after being inspired by a television programme. It is the equivalent of scores of pints which have been used for by both hospitals and students.
Stephen, of Eldon Street North, Barnsley, said: “I just thought if my blood was any good, it might help someone else, and I just carried on going.
“One hundred donations is quite a milestone. When I started I never thought I would get to this.
“It’s an achievement - I’ve persevered and kept going in all weathers. I like to think that If I ever needed any, there would be someone who had done what I’d done.”
