A WOMBWELL woman is leading the charge to make roads safer for horses and their riders.

Alex Bottomley, 20, from Marles Close, has organised a ride out this month to raise awareness for the Pass Wide and Slow campaign.

At the moment, there is no legal requirement for drivers to pass horses on the road or abide by hand signals from riders to slow down.

A petition to Parliament, which currently has more than 104,000 signatures, hopes to change that.
