RESIDENTS with jungle like gardens will be in for more than a ticking off from neighbours - they stand to lose their homes.
A list of the worst 100 council house gardens has been drawn up by Berneslai Homes and if the tenants ignore warnings from impact officers they face eviction.
Impact team group manager Tony Griffiths is trying to tackle more than just weeds and untidy lawns.
The gardens on the black list are considered environmental health risks and eyesores because they are wildly overgrown or strewn with rubbish, nappies and junk.
Tony said: “We are talking about people who can look after their gardens but choose not to, we will always give help to elderly people and vulnerable people who need assistance.
“We’re making sure we’re not giving people too many chances, because that doesn’t help them our our estates. We give people enough time to work with us but not enough time for the situation to spiral.”
If tenants do not tidy up, Berneslai workers may step in and charge for doing the work themselves, if the gardens are not maintained after being cleared they could be served with notice to quit.
