BARNSLEY Hospital has denied claims made by unions that is has created a new company to drive down wages and sell off hospital land and buildings.
Barnsley Facilities Services is a subsidiary owned by the hospital.
The unions claim the hospital intends to transfer non-clinical staff to the company, then slash their terms and conditions and renege on nationally agreed pay rises. Unison also claims hospital bosses intend to transfer other departments at a later stage.
But a spokesman for the hospital said the transfer would keep services local and enhance patient care.
