A MAN who went to the rescue of a screaming woman who had been attacked by a knife-wielding former boyfriend has been rewarded for his bravery by a Crown Court judge.
Tyrone Woodhead, 37, of Doncaster Road, Wath-upon-Dearne, jumped out of his wagon and dragged the attacker off his victim.
“I never even thought about the danger I just heard a lady screaming. All this has come as a shock. I just did what I’d expect everyone else to do, but people were just driving straight by.
“His face was full of anger and when I saw him jumping on her head I knew she had a fractured skull.” Judge Alan Goldsack commended Mr Woodhead and Alex Burgin, 17, after passing sentence on Philip John Stier, 44, of Barnsley for the murder of Doreen Corbett, 39, who lived at a flat in West Street. He gave both men £400 reward from public funds.
