THIS is the team of the 62 finest young singers from across Barnsley who will be setting off for Latvia tonight to represent the town at the European Choir Games.

The 300-strong Barnsley Youth Choir has been whittled down to just 62 following a rigorous audition process, and they’ve spent six months rehearsing intensively and raising the £50,000 needed to help pay for their ten day trip to Riga in Latvia.

Rehearsals haven’t finished yet either - they will arrive in Riga tomorrow afternoon but will spend most of tomorrow evening, and most of the day on Sunday, rehearsing at the Latvian Academy of Music, before singing in an opening event on Sunday night.
