Two wins on the bounce have encouraged the Barnsley Woolley Miners players but they are being warned that the hard work is far from over.
The Shaw Laners leap-frogged Aston Hall with a four wicket win thanks largely to a star performance from overseas player Harpreet Singh.
The Indian took two for 15 as well as a great diving catch as Aston Hall got to 179 from their 50 overs.
Singh proved to be the steadying influence Barnsley have needed in the batting line-up as he worked his way to 91 unbeaten to help Barnsley get over the line in the 42nd over.
They are now two places and 20 points above the relegation zone and six in front of Aston Hall below them.
They face in-form Wakefield Thornes this weekend and first team manager Gary Nuttall is calling for more of the same.
He said: "Wakefield are going great guns but we beat them at our ground and we should go there and give them a game.
"We should not be too downbeat if we don't get anything there but it we did, we would be absolutely delighted.
"We have a run of games after that against teams around us which are more important.
"The league is so congested that with two wins you can go up to fourth or fifth in the table and with two losses you can be back in a mess.
"It was a very good weekend and the confidence is building after two wins.
"We had been 70 per cent dominant in matches but losing games."
Nuttall praised Singh for his match-winning display but he feels there is still more to come – notably a first century for Barnsley.
He added: "Harpreet is finding his feet now.
"He is a miserly bowler and his batting is getting better as he gets used to the pitches but his fielding is first class. There are only a few players who could have taken that catch. He was half in a cartwheel as he caught it.
"He is reining in his game a little bit to carry us through matches. I think if he played his natural game he would score even more, but his first ton will come soon."
Barnsley will be without experienced duo Jason Booth and Joe Ellis this weekend and Nathan Firn is expected to miss some action with a broken hand.
