A FLY-TIPPING page has been set up on social media to snare those responsible for illegally dumping rubbish in Barnsley.
The 'Flytipping in Barnsley' Facebook page allows people to post images of fly-tipped waste and the location with the aim of putting a stop to people blighting the borough.
Photos posted include builders' waste near Elsecar reservoir and Black Lane at Tankersley, and a sofa and chairs and other rubbish dumped at the bottom of Linthwaite Lane, Elsecar.
The council has already pledged to ramp up enforcement in its war against illegal dumping which costs more than £300,000 a year to clean up.
The pledge was made last month in response to recommendations made by a group of councillors and officers tasked with investigating fly-tipping.
Video technology is already being used by the council to catch people and it is also working to identify hot spots and plans to deploy covert cameras.
The page can be found here.
