A BURST water main has caused traffic chaos across Barnsley with usually short journey times turning into more than an hour as commuters scrambled to get home.

Pontefract Road closed on Saturday because of a bust water pipe and didn’t reopen until yesterday morning.

Yorkshire Water had hoped to have the road open by Tuesday afternoon but due to the scale of the damage repairs this was pushed back for a few days.
