THIS lady of letters isn’t backwards at coming forwards - especially when it comes to the alphabet.
Phyllis Knight can recite the alphabet in reverse order perfectly in eight seconds.
It is something of a party piece for the 97-year-old, who has lived at Oakwood Grange care home in Royston for three years, wowing fellow residents, staff and even doctors with her impressive lyrical talents.
Phyllis, who was born and bred in the village and prefers to be called Phyl, can’t recall the first time she tried the tongue-twisting challenge but likes to do it now to keep her brain ‘ticking over’.
“It’s since I have been an old woman and there’s nothing else to do,” she joked.
