COULD this be the highest the Barnsley Chronicle has ever been read at?
David Gibson, originally from Barnsley, decided to pack a copy of the paper when he embarked on a ten-day trip to Machu Picchu in Peru. The photo shows him in the ancient Incan citadel, almost 8,000ft above sea level.
For most people, a copy of the Chron wouldn't be a priority on their packing list, but for 58-year-old David, who has served in the Royal Navy, this wasn't the first time he had been photographed with a copy of the paper in an unusual spot.
Previously, he has had his pictured taken reading it underwater, working on HMS Ark Royal.
David, who now lives on the Isle of Man, said: "I had to do it because the Barnsley Chronicle is the best newspaper in the world. I'm a big fan of Barnsley, having been born and bred there, and it was just something I thought would be a bit unusual.
"I used to work in the Falklands and had it delivered there to me too. I've seen other people have their photos taken in strange places with the paper but I think I might be the first at Machu Picchu.
"I was on a ten day trip as part of a charity event to assist with the restoration of a remote school near Curzo, the ancient capital of the Inca's.
"It took five days of hiking, reaching a height of 4,600m near the mountain of Salkantay.
"Whilst in Peru the local delicacy of Cuy - guinea pig - was eaten, which tasted similar to chicken. We also tried other local favourites like Inca cola and coca leaf tea to help overcome altitude sickness.
"While en route a game of football against the locals took place and even though they were much faster, being used to the high altitude, I managed to score the winning goal."
