A RETIRED teacher is finally getting her Christmas wish to be able to deliver presents to children in Bosnia herself —12 years after getting involved with Operation Christmas Child.
And when she gets there Doris Stubbs, of Chapel Lane, hopes to meet up with a child who received one of her shoe boxes eight years ago and wrote back to her to say thank you.
Doris, 73, said: “I have applied a few times and now I am finally going. I hope to meet up with a boy called Renko who I have kept in touch with for years. I feel very lucky to have this chance.”
Doris must raise £725 for the trip so a concert is being held at Green Moor Church next Saturday.
There will also be a singing workshop earlier in the day for anyone wanting to brush up their vocal skills.
