BARNSLEY is being shipped to Canada - in model form.
The Musee de la Civilisation in Quebec wants to use Will Alsop’s town model as part of a new exhibition.
It is now paying for the model, which measures several metres in length, to be transported 3,000 miles to North America.
The MCQ is a large museum which admits more than 650,000 visitors a year, and the town model will be on display there from January next year until April 2009.
After hearing about the model, the museum’s exhibitions director, Francois Tremblay, wrote to Barnsley Development Agency requesting the loan.
