A ROYSTON woman has been left injured after a piece of string was tied across a road causing her to fall off her scooter.

Angela Whitehouse, 34, of Milgate Street, was travelling along Midland Road on her way home from work when the incident occurred near the Methodist Church.

Paramedics and police from Barnsley were called to the scene at about tea time on Tuesday and she was taken to hospital with leg injuries but is now recovering at home.

“I am just in so much shock. I'm so annoyed and upset. I have two small children and it could have been much worse.”

She said she didn't see the string and didn't know what had happened at the time but didn't think she had hit a car or skidded on the road.

She said: “I'm just so thankful to all the people who stopped to help me.”

Her brother Tony died in a road accident in 1995.

She added: “I don’t forget that my brother is not here but this has brought it all back.” Angela's mum, Sandy Keany, said she was upset and angry at what had happened. She said: “What are these children thinking of doing things like that - lives are at risk.

“I am just so angry as a mother. I just want the children of Royston to know what these silly pranks are doing.”

Sgt Derek Barker : “It brings danger to our roads and anyone that does that could be arrested for the offence. It is mindless and irresponsible.”
