SPECIALIST police officers will be working extra hours this Christmas to try to protect battered wives.
The domestic violence team, led by detective constable Tim Fish and detective sergeant Heather Stocks, will be keeping an eye on the ten most at risk families.
They have also arranged for an extra car to be available so specialist officers can get to the scene of domestic fights quickly.
Ds Stocks said the three weeks around Christmas are the worst of the year. She said: "We will be going out knocking on doors and making sure they are okay.
"If not we will deal with it."
