The mother of a 13-year-old girl who died at Grimethorpe quarry has donated money to help fund a new boxing club.
Kate Roystone, the mother of Amber Worth, presented the Grimethorpe Amateur Boxing Club with £1,700 to help get them started.
Kate raised the money from a party she had organised for Amber's friends and from another event at Grimethorpe WMC.
“Amber wanted a birthday party which I was planning anyway so we organised an event for her friends.”
She said her husband and a friend had been involved with boxing in the past and that it felt natural to donate the money to the club, whose colours will be black and amber.
Brierley Town Coun Alex Vodden said: “We are hoping to open the club for February and sessions are going be in the welfare hall.”
Amber, who lived at Park Avenue, was crushed by a boulder in April while playing with friends in the quarry.
