A RUGBY mad teenager who had his legs broken in a lorry accident last week has been told he may never play the sport again.
Simon Town, of Springwood View, was walking along Sheffield Road when the 40 tonne lorry hit a low bridge and flipped over landing on top of him last Monday.
He managed to crawl out and dial 999 even though the force of the lorry pushing him through a wall had broken his legs in several places.
A 13-year-old girl was also seriously injured in the crash and is in Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
Simon, 16, who plays for Penistone Grammar School and Hillsborough Hawks teams, will be in plaster for 16 weeks and will then face months of physiotherapy.
Simon said: “I saw the lorry and it was almost like slow motion, I could see it coming but couldn't get out of the way. I'm gutted about rugby but I'm lucky to be alive. I keep thinking what if I was a few seconds later?"
