PARENTS have spoken out against Cawthorne residents who met to object to a proposed log cabin at a children's centre.
A public meeting was held last week when concern was expressed over the planning application for the cabin in the grounds of the centre.
Now parents say worries that the cabin will have a detrimental impact on the village and cause an increase in traffic are unfounded.
Alison Homer, of Darton Road, Cawthorne has two children enrolled at the centre on Taylor Hill. She denies the claim the cabin is a smokescreen for expansion to bring in more children.
"It's okay for them to object on the grounds that they don't want any additional traffic being caused by the cabin but the centre has already said it has no plans to expand in numbers and wants the building to comfortably accommodate the 120 children already there."
Alison says she understands residents' anxiety about the development and complaints that traffic would increase but without the centre parents would struggle and ultimately the children would suffer.
