A RISING artist from Shafton has appeared at the launch of a new social-networking website for young creative talent at Downing Street with the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

Bradley Phillip, 18, spoke from the same platform as culture secretary Andy Burnham last Tuesday at the launch of the website by NOISE Festival 2008.

In his speech, Bradley said: "The reason I'm here is to put forward the NOISE message from the point of view of some one who it's benefited directly so that more young people will be aware and can get involved and gain some well deserved recognition."

Bradley is studying a four year course at the Slade School of Fine Art at University College London.

He first uploaded his work on to the NOISE website about two years and was chosen as a curator.

He added: "It all happened so fast it kind of went over my head.

"It's only really now as I stand in 11 Downing Street giving a speech in front of the minister for Culture, Media and Sport and the chief secretary to the treasury that it really sinks in."
