THE numbers game is puzzling a Hoyland man - thanks to an incorrect street sign above his front door.
Brent Armer, 39, lives at 32 Willow Close, but the sign says 'Willow Close 3-18'. He does not know where numbers 3-18 are, but says they are nowhere near his house.
He said: "I had some friends come to visit me from America. They saw the sign, looked around but couldn't find it so they gave up and went back to their hotel and phoned me. I've know idea where 3-18 are. They're all evens round here. "
The close has two branches which appear like separate cul-de-sacs. "The sign looks like it's been there a while. I've lived here nine months and I've complained about four times. I hadn't complained for about two months because it seemed they weren't bothered. I saw a bloke from the council looking at it once. When I asked him if he was going to sort it, he said 'I haven't got a ladder with me'. That was six months ago."
Brent said he began thinking about the sign again after seeing stories about two incorrect Wombwell street signs in the Chronicle recently.
Alan Carnall, assistant director of the council's highways department, said: "We have not received any previous complaints about this location in terms of street name signage.
"However, following the enquiry we will be investigating the area generally and we will make any amendments necessary."
