TWO Barnsley bands have made the final of a regional battle of the bands contest.
Groups from as far away as Nottingham and Bradford entered the heats which have been held at Lucorum bar.
But it is Barnsley's own The Jives and The Paradigms which will battle it out at Thursday's final and hope to walk away with the £2,000 prize. The competiton is organised by the Safe@Last charity which works with vulnerable children who have run away from home.
Organiser Mark Lees said both bands were terrific. "It's great for Barnsley that two local bands are in the final, the town has a vibrant music scene and the standard of both bands reflects that."
