A derelict allotment in Mexborough is going to be transformed into a haven for residents and wildlife.
The allotment group who have called themselves 'The Land of the Learning Welly Brigade' pitched their case for support in a Dragons den style event to a panel of judges who heard their case and that of 17 other projects.
They were selected for the muddy makeover by the BBC who are funding the project and are now appealing for green fingered volunteers to help them turn Mexborough Allotments on Adwick Road into a facility for the whole community.
Proposed works include digging, fence building, painting, building raised beds, planting trees and shrubs, path laying and bird and bat box making.
