A TRAINEE teacher has returned from the trip of a lifetime - walking the Inca Trail Trek to Machu Picchu in Peru.
Sarah Baines, 22, of Cemetery Road, Jump, trekked for more than 10 hours a day during the trip to the South American country.
She arrived on Saturday May 10 after a 36 hour journey and spent two days getting acclimatised before setting off on her four day trek.
She was part of a group of 20 who camped in mountains and walked up narrow paths with vertical drops to the highest peak, called dead woman's pass, standing at over 4,200 metres.
Sarah said: "I have always been fascinated by the Incas and it was a dream of mine to walk the trail, I can't believe I have accomplished it. With the pressure and altitude it was really hard but the views were breathtaking, it was well worth it."
She hopes to walk the Great Wall of China for charity in a couple of years.
