STAFF and owners of an illegal car wash in Cudworth are continuing to run the business despite being being told to stop by the council.
Splendid Carwash, on Barnsley Road is based at an unused petrol station but has not been granted planning permission for the change of use.
The owners and occupiers have been served with a stop notice but are continuing and the council is now collecting evidence for a prosecution.
Council officer Martin Winnard said permission to use the garage as a car wash had previously been turned down and enforcement action was taken to stop the use.
He added: "Barnsley Council served a further enforcement notice and stop notice on the new owners/occupiers. However they are continuing to use the site in contravention of these notices and the council is now collecting evidence for prosecution."
