THE wing of a sheltered accommodation complex for the elderly in Brierley has been demolished for redevelopment by Berneslai Homes.

The wing, at Grange House, included 16 bedsits and has been flattened following approval from the council for partial closure in March.

The two tenants in the bedsits have been rehoused by Berneslai Homes.

Sara Scholes, regeneration manager of Berneslai Homes, said: "Demolition work has started and the properties in the retained wing are currently undergoing fire safety works. A project manager has been based in the scheme throughout the works and Berneslai Homes continue to support the remaining residents now and in the future."
