A FESTIVAL of fun, music and colour took over the town centre on Saturday.
Crowds were entertained by jugglers, stilt-walkers, music and dancing as the summer carnival procession moved through the streets.
The Mayor, Coun Margaret Morgan, led the parade in full ceremonial dress, including flowing red cape and tricorn hat.
She stopped at the end to give medals to everyone who took part and found time to praise the event and all the people who were involved.
“It’s absolutely brilliant. A wonderful community event for Barnsley.
“I'm so proud that so many people have turned out and put so much effort into bringing children and getting children ready. It’s fantastic.”
