A VULNERABLE pensioner who was held prisoner in his own home has said he won't rest until justice is done.
Arthur Hill, 77, was the victim of a distraction burglary when four men claiming to be from the water board forced their way into his home.
Mr Hill, of Rother Street, Brampton, said: "A smallish man knocked on my door telling me there had been a gas leak and I needed to turn off my gas supply.
"When I told him I didn't use gas he said he was from the water board and he needed to turn off my water supply as that had leaked too.
"I wouldn't let him in so he went away and returned with three more men who pushed past me."
When Mr Hill tried to call the police one of the men disconnected the telephone wire and blocked his path, trapping him in the lounge.
He said: "As soon as I saw him pull the phone plug I knew they had nothing to do with the water board. "They took £200 from my wallet and I thought they had stolen some jewellery but they had just knocked it down from where I usually keep it."
The four men, described by neighbours as being in their early 20s and between five foot six inches and five foot ten inches, then sped away in a silver BMW.
Mr Hill said: "I am not frightened I am just so angry, I want these men in court and properly punished for what they have done.
"My worry is that they do this again, I phoned my brother in Darfield to tell him to be careful and would warn others, especially elderly women.
"I now keep my net curtains drawn and my doors locked, these criminals are so brazen, it was 2 o'clock in the afternoon."
The incident occurred on Thursday October 16.
