THE first female boxer from Grimethorpe, who is a member of a amateur club set up in memory of Amber Worth, has won her first fight.
Darcie Greene, 12, of Windmill Avenue, won the bout at a tournament in Leeds on Friday. Darcie said: "It was hard when I first got in the ring but I thought I might be able to win it and I did. I'm going to try to keep winning now."
Jack Exley, 13 of Princess Street, also won his first fight at the tournament. The club was set up in January in memory of 13-year-old Amber who was crushed by a boulder while playing with friends at Grimethorpe Quarry.
Over £1, 000 was donated to the club by Amber's mum Kate Roystone after she held a party for Amber's friends.
