THIEVES ignored a laptop computer and a handbag when they broke into a house to steal an African Grey parrot.
Four-year-old Joey, worth £700, was snatched after burglars used a rock from Charlie and Dorothy Cattanach's garden to smash a window at their home in Melton Avenue, Goldthorpe.
Their daughter, Mairi Heavey, said the elderly couple have been left devastated and said the bird's catchphrases included shouting out for a "wee wee" or "Joey wants a chip".
