A DEMOLITION team has razed part of Barnsley College this week.

The extension nearest Old Mill Lane which once housed the Business Solutions Centre is now rubble. A large vehicle with mechanical 'pincer' has pulled the building apart lump by lump and was yesterday turning its attention to the Electric Light Theatre - the wing nearest the Chronicle offices.

It is anticipated that will be gone next week and then workers will start demolishing the main tower block.

It will be 'sliced' down the middle and then knocked in on itself. During the demolition process a large crushing machine will reduce the rubble into material to be reused on the construction site.

The flattened buildings will be replaced with a £60 million new centre.
