THE family of a man found dead in a reservoir near Dunford Bridge say they have been overwhelmed by messages of support.

The body of Philip Deakin, 59, was discovered in Winscar Reservoir on Thursday, March 5 at 2.30pm following a police search operation.

Mr Deakin, of Mortimer Road, Penistone, had been reported missing by his family on Wednesday, March 4 after he left home at 5am.

Mr Deakin had been suffering from anxious depression and had been unable to sleep properly for a number of weeks and often went out walking to take his mind off the anxiety.

His family became worried when he did not return later that morning.

A search was launched on Wednesday afternoon after his car was was found at a beauty spot in the Dunford area.

Woodhead Mountain Rescue and Holme Valley Search and Rescue Teams were called in to help but the police underwater search team recovered his body the following day.
