A FACTORY worker has been killed in a freak accident at work on an industrial estate in Barugh Green.
John Mott, 47, was crushed when a steel girder fell on him at Bespoke Precast Ltd, on Whaley Road at Claycliffe industrial estate on Monday.
Mr Mott, of Green Road, Penistone, was taken to Barnsley hospital but could not be revived.
His wife, Jeanette, was too upset to comment but her brother, Robert Letherland, said the family is devastated.
"We are in a state of shock. John was a big, cuddly man who has been cruelly snatched from his family. "Everybody who knew him loved him."
A spokesman for Bespoke Precast Ltd said: "The exact circumstances surrounding John Mott's death are unclear. The Health and Safety Executive are investigating and we are co-operating fully with them."
