BOROUGH of Barnsley Swimming Club hosted the latest Minors League fixture on Saturday and once again came out on top. They finished with 162 points ahead of Knottingly 115; Cleethorpes 110 and Edlington 109.

The following day there were some fantastic results at the 13th Stocksbridge Sprints Open Gala. Nine-year-old James Hook from Dodworth led the way with wins in the breaststroke and freestyle, a second in the backstroke and a third in the butterfly.

Fellow nine-year-old Natasha Davies almost equalled his achievement with two firsts, a second and a fourth. There were also wins for Thomas Speed (10) and Joanne Archer (14). Other finalists and medal winners were Holly Milnes, Jonathan Higgins, Ryan Musgrave, Liam Exley, Daniel Higgins, Lucy Randle, Alex Crosby, Liam Crosby and Paige Owen.

With an incredible 56 events packed in to one day the atmosphere was excellent and there was a reminder in the programme that two of the Meet records have stood since 1998, set by then 11-year-old Barnsley swimmer, Mark McLoughlin.
