A SECOND pensioner to suffer horrific injuries falling down a hospital escalator has come forward after reading last week's Chronicle.
Widower Jack Faulkner spent over a month in hospital following the accident involving the same escalator Len Conway fell down and fractured his skull.
Mr Faulkner was left with severe cuts and bruises to his head, face, legs and hands following the accident in Barnsley Hospital's outpatients department in September. The 86-year-old said: "Someone is going to get killed but they are determined to keep it."
"Escalators are all right for shopping centres but not in a hospital. When are they going to realise there is something wrong with it? How many accidents does there need to be?"
Chief executive Sandra Taylor said: “We are very sorry that two people have suffered accidents in this way.
"The accidents were investigated internally immediately and, following Mr Faulkner's accident, the escalator was slowed down and more signs for the lift put in place."
