TWO women and their families have been driven out of their homes for speaking out against thugs who beat up a Chinese takeaway owner and left him for dead.

The friends, neighbours on Priory Road, Lundwood, since they were teenagers, gave evidence in court to help convict four local youths calling themselves the 'Lundwood Soldjas'.

They had been involved in a sickening Mischief Night attack on Lun Min Chen outside the women's homes in November 2007.

Since they testified, the women, aged 36 and 40, have had death threats made against them and members of their families, windows in their homes have been smashed and cars vandalised.

One of the friends' teenage sons was told he would have his throat slit, while another relative had his car set on fire and broken bricks and glass have been left on their garden paths.A niece was treated in hospital after she was beaten up.
