TWO Barnsley girls will have the clothes they designed modelled in front of almost 6,000 people at the world's biggest fashion and beauty event.
Sarah-Jean Heald and Suzi Greening have reached the finals of the Clothes Show Live Can U Cut it? competition, which takes place at the NEC in Birmingham in December, and see their designs on the catwalk.
Sarah, of Hoyland, and Suzi, of Athersley, are both studying for a national diploma in fashion and clothing at Barnsley College.
The designs which earned them a place in the spotlight were said to have demonstrated the highest standards in pattern cutting, grading and construction. Both girls are delighted to have a chance to impress fashion industry gurus with their talents and are determined to make the most of their opportunity.
Sarah, 18, said: “I decided I wanted to be a designer when I realised how much fun I had when I was making my own clothes.”
CAPITB Trust is the training organisation for the British fashion industry and its chairman Tom Edge said: “The standard of entries in this year's competition has been exceptional. I congratulate Sarah and Suzi on reaching the final and wish them an enjoyable day at the Clothes Show Live event.”
If Suzi and Sarah win they will receive thousands of pounds worth of grants to support them in career development.
