THE Old Moor bird and nature reserve in the Dearne Valley has been named the best environment project in the country.
Jubilant staff have been celebrating after the RSPB reserve won the £2,000 National Lottery Award on live television, which they say will put it on the map.
Manager Pete Wall is ecstatic and said: "It feels like when Barnsley got into the Premiership."
Old Moor was voted by the public as the best environment project in the National Lottery: Big Seven show on Saturday. Mr Wall collected the prize on Saturday night and said it was 'totally amazing'.
