A 17-year-old apprentice mechanic is lucky to be alive after a single decker bus he was fixing fell on his head.
Stagecoach employee, Ben Burgin, was underneath the bus looking at the suspension when the airbag holding the vehicle up popped, causing it to land on him at the Wakefield Road depot on Monday morning.
Colleagues rushed to tip the 14-tonne bus up, allowing him to wriggle free. He was taken to Barnsley Hospital then transferred to Sheffield Hallamshire with severe head injuries.
No-one at Stagecoach was available to comment. Hear from the family and read the full story in this week's town edition.
