A GREAT-GRANDMOTHER had to cancel a hospital appointment because the only bus serving her village has been withdrawn. Dot Parsons is diabetic, suffers from osteoporosis and arthritis and has several scars on her heart. She should have seen a specialist last week. But the 70-year-old, of Burton Road, West Green, says she is stranded without the bus - the number 31 which was withdrawn by Stagecoach last week. Stagecoach commercial manager Mike Power said the service was removed because so few used it. “The people for whom that route was the only service were so small there was no point running the service. Everybody else has a fairly good frequency and we don’t want to divert any of the remaining services because that's going to disrupt the people who want the direct route into town."
