CHILDREN from Barnsley met Olympic supremo Sebastian Coe to talk about the 2012 Games in London. The youngsters met Lord Coe at an event organised by the Barnsley and Newham partnership.

Newham is one of the borough's where the Olympics will be hosted and is now twinned with Barnsley. The partnership aims to promote the Olympic values of 'friendship, excellence and respect'.

But yesterday Conservative councillor Robert Barnard questioned the point of it at a scrutiny meeting. He asked how it would benefit Barnsley and what the cost would be to taxpayers.
