A RAPPER who did his first live performance in front of hundreds at Barnsley Metrodome got the crowd shouting his name.

Eugene Bruce, of Royston, was discovered after posting a video on the internet and did his first show on Saturday as a support act for Tinchy Stryder.

The 24-year-old, of Milgate Street, said it was better than he had dared imagine.

He said: "I wasn't even nervous on the day. I had been the day before but knew I had to get on with it.

"The reports I've had back from people who were there said I was confident and had stage presence. It was brilliant, I was pretty proud of myself because I think I did really well."

Eugene impressed Tinchy and the London-based rapper even asked him to go back on stage to whip up the crowd before he came on to perform.

"It was amazing. I went out as the lights came up and they were shouting, 'Eugene. Eugene.' They were still shouting when Tinchy came on."

On the back of his Metrodome success Eugene now has a booking agent and is planning a national tour of small venues. He also has a record label and hopes to release a single and album
