Five-piece Indie band Cuba are starting to get a dedicated following in Barnsley.

Brothers Nathan and Rory King, on keyboards and lead vocals and rhythm guitar, are joined by Jon Nixon on lead guitar, Carl Fearn on drums and Andy Bailey on bass guitar.

They are all from the the Darton, Gawber and Monk Bretton areas and have been together since April 2004. They take inspiration from a range of bands and eras, including the Jam, the Talking Heads and the Stone Roses.

Nathan said: “Depending on the reaction we get to some new songs at a warm up gig on Saturday, we may well play them at the battle of the bands.

“I’m sure we’ll rely on some old stuff as well, though.”
