A GREAT time was had by all at the 1953 Coronation party for children in the Summer Lane, Blackburn Lane, Queen’s Avenue and Jordon Hill areas of Barnsley.
Terry Bowman, who loaned photographs, said money was raised over several months through weekly beetle drives so that a good show could be put on for the youngsters.
The party was held in the old (now demolished) St Paul's Church hall in Greenfoot Lane.
Mr Bowman, 67, was 14 at the time He now lives in Doncaster but lived in Summer Lane, Barnsley, from 1948 to 1975.
