A traffic warden issued a wheelchair-bound teenager a parking ticket for displaying his disabled badge the wrong way round - despite seeing him struggle to get out of the car.
Jack Mitchell-Ryan, 17, had gone into town with his dad Steve who had parked in a disabled bay on Blucher Street. The pair had seen the traffic warden in the distance as Steve helped Jack out of the vehicle and into the wheelchair.
But they were horrified to return to the car and find a £70 fine had been slapped on the car windscreen as the badge had been displayed incorrectly.“It’s ridiculous,” said Jack of Midland Road, Royston.
A council spokesman said the penalty charge notice had been issued because the badge number, expiry date and issuing authority details were not visible.
