More than 50 people attended a business lecture by entrepreneur Graham Lesley at University Campus Barnsley.
The event was organised by the Chronicle to offer guidance and inspiration for current and budding entrepreneurs in Barnsley in an effort to foster a more business-minded culture.
Graham, 65, brought his pharmaceutical company Galpharm to Dodworth in the early 1990s shortly after the closure of the pit and was the first to bring Ibuprofen to pharmacies and groceries.
He later sold the company for £55m and now invests in other companies but his son continues to operate a business selling baby products from the old pit head.
