A Barnsley mum whose dad was killed in a chip pan fire has spoken for the first time about her agonising ordeal  and how she will miss her dad when she gets married.

Ray Scarfe, 66, died following the blaze at his home on Summer Lane, Barnsley, almost two years ago.

His daughter Linda Scarfe, 31, of Granville Street, Old Town, will marry partner Nicky Hoyle, 40, in July.

Linda said: “How am I ever going to know what my dad would say to me on my wedding day? How do you get your head round that? I’m struggling a lot.

“I’ll come down in my wedding dress and my dad’s not going to be there to give me away. It’s going to be really emotional because a big part of the family is going to be missing."

Linda is backing a fire service campaign to stop people using chip pans.
