Barnsley Central MP Dan Jarvis says he will definitely be at a public meeting to discuss the future of land at Pogmoor - even if it means missing the end of the phone hacking scandal debate.

Mr Jarvis organised a public meeting to discuss land on West Road at Pogmoor, where latest plans are to return it to its former use as a tip.

It follows abandoned plans for a gypsy site, and then a mixed use development including housing and business units.

The prime minister has ordered MPs to sit tomorrow to discuss the crisis. They had been due to adjourn for their summer recess today.

Mr Jarvis will be in the Commons chamber for the prime minister's statement tomorrow lunchtime, but has vowed if it runs late, he will leave the debate to make sure he is back in Barnsley for the meeting.

It starts at 6.30 tomorrow at the library.
