Plans to develop a rundown area of Pogmoor which were rejected by the council will be the subject of an appeal.

Developer Vicky Simpson told the Chronicle last night that she had sent a '43 page report' as part of her appeal to the planning inspectorate.

She is one of several landowners on the five-acre site at West Road. Earlier this year a gypsy site was proposed by one of the other land owners, but that plan was abandoned following a public outcry.

Miss Simpson's plans were for a mixed use development, including housing, a care home, a crèche and small business units. She said she was confident she had put forward a strong case for the decision to be overturned.
